ATDC Fun in The Fens 2008

This year has once again seen a fantastic National rally at a super location and surrounded by picturesque countryside.
The event was organised by Fred Leach and partner Chris with John and Bridget Knight organising activities for the weekend.
Ely rugby club played host to the event and was within easy reach of the city and surrounding villages.
The weather was grand and ice cream sales hit an all time high.

Period dress down to the last detail complete with pint of pride.

Friday night was in period dress with a Thirties Quiz.
Great fun had by one and all with Jeff Harrison's table
taking the prize for the quiz.

Ann and Helen in the Austin bar.

After a fabulous 3 course meal it was time to adjourn to the veranda and engage in sprocket talk.

The City of Ely is full of charm and proved a lovely place to explore.
The medieval Cathedral with it's octagonal tower and fantastic
stained glass windows has to be seen to be believed.
There were several walks around the city, taking in Oliver Cromwell's house, the historic harbour, and the famous tea rooms said to be the finest in the land.

Cromwell's House
Now used as the Tourist information office.

The scatter run took us to several village locations
to find some very devious clues. Much head scratching
and a lot of very confused looking members were seen wandering up and down looking high and low for the answers. In the end it became a three way tie breaker to find the eventual winner. It was however great fun and a grand way to see the Fenland countryside and all it had to offer.

On Sunday the show ground began to fill and a fantastic turnout of some 140 entrants were on display.

As the temperature soared the girls came out to soak up the sun and add some glamour to the proceedings.

Catching up on the news and stocking up on those vital spares.

George Buxton shows us his 20 which shrunk in the wash and is now a 10. He has both really. Nigel arrives with a cheery smile.
