Interior of Austin 10 Cambridge

This view of the inside of an Austin 10hp Cambridge shows the spacious and airy nature of the new model, introduced in July 1936 to replace both the Sherborne and Lichfield. The central handbrake shows that this car was made before June 1938 when the dash mounted umbrella handbrake was introduced.

Interior of Cambridge - back seat

This view shows the wide back seat and armrests over the rear wheel arches. The split rear window was popular on cars of the late 1930s. It provided a larger glass area than on previous models and the centre pillar added strength in support of the steel roof. This strength was demonstrated in an Austin promotional film in which a new Austin Cambridge was rolled over into a quarry, and then driven out again.
