I have a 1934 Austin 12 Open Road Tourer I am restoring. On the dashboard there is a hole at the bottom left, the mirror position of the starting button and the same size.
Would anyone be able to tell me what is meant to go in this hole?
Based on my 1935 12/4 Ascot, if at the far left then choke control mounting hole.
On my 12/4 Ascot the instrument panel is effectively divided in two - half either side of the steering column.
If the hole was placed centrally-ish on the left hand panel it would be for the switch to illuminate the instruments.

Thanks for your reply Steve. My choke control (should I say 'strangler'?) has been mounted right in the middle of the car between the glovebox and the dash. Above it is a light which is suspect is not standard. Do you have anything in this middle car position?
I only have the push out windscreen over centre folding stay hinge in the middle.
Your Open Road Tourer may very well be different.
If you could post up a photo of your arrangement it would be easier for myself or someone else who has your version to offer further info.
