austin 10-4

afternoon just wondering if someone could tell me where are the identity numbers are located on these small austins

Look under the LH side of the bonnet.

There should be 2 plates with the chassis and body Nos. stamped into them riveted onto the angled piece of body next to and below the battery box.

But these are often removed as souvenirs - or for "restoration" and then lost.

The chassis No is stamped into the top face of the chassis on the LH side.  (Not far from the fuel pump). You may need to clean off old paint and / or rust to read this. Prefix G and in range 101 to 97000 for 10/4. (10hp Cambridge from 1036 - 97001 onwards).

Prior to the Cambridge the body numbers differed from the chassis Nos. Different body styles may have different prefix letters, but not always.

ATDC Technical Reprints Vol 1 has details of changes to the model in relation to chassis and body Nos.

cheers for that mate she is in ruff shape but its all there I believe it a first of as its 4 door open roof

These numbers suggest 1936 10hp G/RL Cambridge. Engine probably original - downdraught carburettor and 14mm spark plugs. Shell-type big end bearings.
