JUDGES SCRUTINISING EVER INCH

Many club members have asked for the criteria in judging their cars for the Pride of Ownership Award.

Here is a copy of the instructions and marking questions you need to be able to comply with.

ATDC PRIDE OF OWNERSHIP

General rules:
Vehicles NOT displaying a current road tax disc will NOT be eligible for judging.
Today's dirt is to be ignored.
To be considered for a place award or commendation in class,
the vehicle must achieve a total score of at least 50% of the possible total.
The vehicles of drivers who have entered for the Challenge Trophy, combining driving test
results with P of O results, need to be carefully judged even if they appear unlikely P of O winners.
There are some club eligible vehicles which will in part fall outside the points system. ie vans, commercials
and fleet models may not have bumpers, carpets or leather seats. To equalise things when these are being judged in the same class as other cars, full points may be awarded for the "missing" item in question.

SECTION 1      
WHEELS      
1. Are front tyres a matched pair?   1
2. Are wheels in good condition and painted Black? (5 x 1) 5
3. Have tyres been misused on kerbs etc (if NO) (5 x 1) 5
4. Are all hub caps correct, matching and in good condition? (4 x 1) 4
5. Do all 5 tyres have valve caps (metal) (5 x 1) 5
INTERIOR      
6. Are there acceptable carpets front and rear?   2
7. Are carpets bound at edges?   1
8. Does driver's carpet have a fixed wearing pad?   1
9. Is carpet at base of doors sound?   2
10. Are all the doors faced with matching hide?   1
11. Are door pockets sound? or (some) tourers - do door panes hinge for s/s storage? (4 x 1) 4

If the difference between 1st and 2nd place, 2nd and 3rd place, 3rd and 4th place is less than 5 points, the following extra items will be judged.

1 Start the engine on starter and listen for mechanical condition of components   3
2 Do all lights work and headlamps dip?   2
3 Does ammeter show a charge and does warning light operate correctly? (2 x 1) 2
4 Does horn work?   1
5 Do wipers operate as they should?   2

SECTION 3 BODYWORK    
FRONT      
1. Does car have front bumper and has it correct contour?   1
2. Is it chromed and is chrome in good condition?   1
3. Are front wings sound? (no splits on edge beading)   2
4. Are front wings painted black? (Alligator bonnet models - GRQ & later - may have wings in body colour)   2
5. Does bonnet have rubber corners? (centre hinged types)   2
6. Is rubber between scuttle and bonnet in good condition?   1
7. Is braiding over radiator sound?   1
8. Is radiator shell well chromed? OR on painted cowled models is chrome bezel radiator surround and flying wheel badge well chromed?   2
9. Are sidelights & headlights well chromed (early models painted h/lights) (4 x 1) 4
10. Does radiator / grill have Austin script badge?   1
11. Are windscreen wiper blades in good condition?   1
