Re: New First time owner Austin 12 Ascot AEF830A in Wakefield

Welcome to the world of Austins Paul. Pete and Dai have covered just about everything other than the odd registration number. The DVLA used to issue A suffix registration numbers back in the 90s-00s when a car was robbed of its original registration number, or had been imported, so the car may have ...

Re: Heater

Like Phil, I’ve been driving pre-war Austins since dinosaurs roamed the earth and tried all sorts of heating, including on one occasion what I was told was a cockpit heater from a bomber (though I think it was more likely from an old bus). I’ve tried the old Smiths “fug stirrers” as well, but none c...

Re: Fuel tank sender

Hi Welly, I note you haven’t had a response from the experts yet, but I can say some Austins had an access plate under the back seat, so it may be worth a look!

Re: New member looking to buy parts

I thought holidays may be causing the delay Peter.

Re: New member looking to buy parts

Hi Nick, I think being holiday time there could be a slight delay, give it a few more days and if nothing arrives, drop a line to the membership guy at info@austintendriversclub.com…it took me a few weeks before I got my info and then another week to navigate access to the web site and forum!

Re: Austin Collection under Auction in August

There is a similar report on the Austin Seven Friends web site, a decent Chummy for under 8 grand hasn't been seen for years, but the fact is that pre war car prices have plummeted this year (rare and desirable thoroughbreds accepted, of course) I was shocked to see we’ll known Seven man Wayne Horn ...

Re: Austin 10 registration JGK 453

Once again this case demonstrates the true value of our cars retaining their original registration numbers, here’s hoping the car still has it and you can find it!

I’ve used RH for years, slight increase in premium this year but for the service you get, I couldn’t argue and renewed straight away.

Re: Stuck Clutch

I remember having a stuck clutch on an old Talbot I had and I got a whole load of friends round, one to sit in the driver’s seat keeping the clutch depressed and in second gear, while the rest rocked the car backwards and forwards…after about two minutes it let go. I got the engine running as soon a...
