Re: Difficult to navigate

Hi Yes you have to log on to the ATDC website and then log on to the Members area, General Area. And I think they have to be different passwords, at least mine are different. Once you have navigated this if you can look at the Website Tab and this has a section that tells you how to post pictures. A...

Re: Austin Light 12/6 Harley - Fuel Pump

According to my Data sheet Sparking plug gaps are 18/20 thou And Tappet clearances 4 thou when hot (this I have found impossible to do) so have compromised and use 6 thou cold. Tony Mealings book on the light Austin 12 also suggests 6 thou cold. Remember to ensure the top of the tappet screw is flat...

Re: Austin 10/4 Electrical or Fuel issue?

Hi Andrew It is not unusual for for a Austin to be reluctant to start when hot. The fuel in the carb evaporates with the heat. As previously mentioned get some easy start ( Halfords) and get someone to spray it straight into the carb air intake while you try and start it (no choke).. If it starts ev...

Re: Zenith carb adjustment on 1933 10/4

Hi if you take the mixture control screw out completely and when the car is ticking over you should feel with your finger that air is been pulled in to the hole. If not something is wrong. And putting your finger over the hole should change the engine tickover speed. The mixture adjusting screw ONLY...

Re: Austin 12/4 Harley - Buying Advice Requested

The 12/4 Harleys are really nice cars. !933 and before have crash gearboxs which might take a bit of getting used to but they were very robust are once you get used to them nice to use.

Re: Elsie's owner is an idiot!

Hi Jasper
If you can beg borrow or steal an endiscope you should be able to see it. Then using a grasper you may b e able to retrieve it. I have also used a thin stick with a small dap of super glue on the end to pick up difficult to reach objects.

Re: Lucas W3 IGN warning light

Hi
Just out of interest why did Austin originally go to the trouble of putting a 2.5v bulb in the ignition light when a 12v one would do the job perfectly adequately without the need of the resistance? I am sure someone will tell me!

Re: Lucas W3 IGN warning light

I think the original ignition warning light bulbs were 2.5v and carried 0.2 amps. If you used these bulbs the resistance should be 47.5 ohms. However finding these bulbs now is not easy and Holdens do an ignition light replacement which looks the same but uses an LED. Might not be original but it lo...
