Re: 1933 ten, valve grind
Hi All, Progress so far: On closely inspecting the valve seats in the block and contact area on the valves it is obvious that firstly the exhaust seats are pitted with each exhaust valve also pitted. The valve guides show little wear and the valve stems are still as new. tested by rocking the valve ...

Re: 1933 ten, valve grind
Thanks for all your thoughts and advice people.
I think I will put mine smooth side down so the "rough side" is in contact with the head.
Next question is does anyone use or recommend a sealant or just grease be applied to both sides of the gasket before fitting ?
cheers
Gary

Re: 1933 ten, valve grind
Thanks Peter. My next question is I have a brand new copper head gasket to install and I recall reading some where about being careful which way up it goes. It is made from two sheets of copper with one side going through the openings and being pressed down on the other side. Or does it not matter. ...

1933 ten, valve grind
Hi all, I am half way though a valve grind on my ten and have discovered pitting on each of the exhaust seats, not to bad but also some pitting on the ex valves. I am awaiting seat grinding tool but the thought comes to me that I wonder if this shows the first stages of seat degradation caused by un...

Re: 1933 Austin 10/4 front wheel bearings
Thanks Rod, I agree with your advice. I guess the up side of using sealed types in the Austin 10 is that our VAR outings here in NZ tend to incorporate plenty of unsealed ( we call them Shingle Roads ) roads and in the summer there is usually plenty of dust! Sealed types may give better protection. ...

1933 Austin 10/4 front wheel bearings
Hi all, I need to renew all 4 of my front wheel bearings ( and replace the leather grease seals ). I got a warning from the tester doing my last warrant of fitness recently. Question I have is has anyone used sealed bearings rather than the open and packed with grease type? I can't find anyone in ou...
