Cambridge

Have seen a Cambridge up for auction, have looked up on DVLA the registration number, and it is not listed. How hard is it to reclaim the original registration, is there some one who can help if I buy it and what are the pitfalls. p.s. there is no ducmentation at all. Thanks Mike

This club is the one recognised by DVLA for Austins 10-28, 1931-39 those seeking to retain an original reg no, or get a so-called "age-related" reg no allocated to their vehicle under the V765 Scheme and can give advice and help. Use the Contact Us form to seek help from the club. There is a charge for this service.

DVLA require that the car be inspected and the club can arrange that. In the absence of any documents it may be difficult but all cars had a chassis No, a "Car No" on the body (on the Cambridge model this No.tallies with the chassis No) and an engine No. These the club can compare to other cars to identify an approximate date. If the car is already known to the club (on our database) there may be other information available. Alas under data protection laws dating back many years we cannot hold or give out details of past owners.

Do have a good look at the car before making a bid. The car No will be on a plate attached to the engine compartment firewall under the RH side of the bonnet. Chassis No is on the top RH chassis member neat to the fuel pump.

Many thanks Peter for that info, it looks like the car will have to be pretty cheap to take a risk on it. It looks like it has not been used for quite a while, but the interior is very good indeed. What the petrol tank is like I do not know, I have a ten tank in the garage, don't know if it will fit the Cambridge. It is a bit too far for me to view, so I have to rely on photos and a walk round video. Thanks Mike
