Hood, windscreen &c. for Ten Sports

Post by antof11a » Sat Nov 04, 2023 3:01 pm

Thanks in advance for any help given. I am thinking of buying an 10 sports - it is on Car And Classic site page 4 of Classic Austins.

I live in Camden Town and wondered if any members had had a new hood and sidescreens made recently not too far from North London. The same goes for a replacement windscreen.

If it is OY 9235 it is NOT a sports model but a Two-Seat & Dickey Tourer (a nicer car than the Ripley Sports model in many ways). A very good one of these sold at auction at Beulieu International Autojumble for less than the price asked for OY 9235. See also comments on Facebook. Worth haggling!

A minor point is that the cc of the Ten engine is 1125 and NOT 1141 as often incorrectly shown by DVLA on the V5 (1141cc was the capacity of the wartime Tilly). With less than 20bhp under the bonnet this is academic. Compare the car & chassis numbers shown under the LH side of the bonnet (below the battery box) with those shown on the V5 - again DVLA can get these wrong. If these plates are missing you can look for the chassis No stamped into the top of the chassis arm close to the fuel pump - though it may be hidden under thick paint or rust.

If you do buy this car you will get a lot of fun with it.
