But the list is neither shown in the Highway Code (other than eyesight requirements HC92) nor widely publicised. As a consequence many drivers find themselves at risk of a fine for not declaring a condition on the DVLA list. Illogically some medical interventions that would avoid a sudden unexpected health crisis on the road are listed as notifiable.
The notifiable conditions are:
- diabetes or taking insulin
- syncope (fainting)
- heart conditions including atrial fibullation & pacemakers
- sleep apnoea
- epilepsy
- strokes
- glaucoma
