Re: Bumper
Bumpers on 1933 Tens are twin-blade - across full width of car at front and as quarter bumpers at rear (including saloons) - and chromium plated.
There was a subtle change in style on or about Aug '33 when the X-frame 12v model was introduced. The '32 and '33 cars had fluted bumpers with a horizontal black line along the centre of the bumpers within the indent. The black line has usually been polished off and is no longer visible. The later '33 and early '34 cars had plain twin-blades without the "flute". Some cars have non-matching bumpers front and back e.g. if they have had an accident or loss of the bumper and it has been replaced by a later or earlier style
The top and bottom blades of front bumpers were clamped at the centre and the clamp was covered by a badge that looked like an A on a radiator. The "core" of the radiator was painted black with the surround and the A in chrome, again the paint is usually no longer there.
Most restorers do not paint either the centre badge or the flutes on the earlier cars as it is too difficult.
Photos of examples below:
Fluted front bumper early 1933 Plain twin front bumper late 33 early 34 Fluted rear bumpers early '33 - saloons also had quarter bumpers in this style Plain rear twin quarter bumpers late 33 early 34. [Rear lamps should be Pork Pie not Ds]
