No there is not a Technical Fact Sheet for valve clearance adjustment as this is covered in most handbooks. E.G. Pitman's by Staton Abbey page 56, Collins by Hawks pages 69 & 70, the Austin 10/4 hanbook page 49, and in the ATDC Magazine Technical Reprints Vol I pages 18 & 19 in the article on decarbonising and valve grinding.

It is similar to doing the settings on an OHV but harder on your back

Tip: Use the longest, most slender spanners you can find (there used to be special 'tappet' spanners made just for doing this). Like most sidevalve engines, there is not a lot of room in there to manoeuvre two spanners and a feeler blade, particularly if you're adjusting on a hot engine...

I always felt sorry for the mechanics who worked on American L-head engines. A lot of valves to adjust on the 8 cyl ones, and a lot of makes had them accessible for adjustment only through a removeable panel in the inner guard (inner fender) once the road wheel was removed
