This will probably seem like a silly question!!

I need to refurbish the above front and back. I take it I can just unbolt them without any jacking up...Is there any need to put anything under the springs to remove the shocks?

It is not essential to jack the axle or car to remove the shocks, but it may be handy to have more room to work by using ramps or axle stands (assuming you do not have a pit or hoist)
