Running Fault 1934 Austin 10

Hi,
I have an Austin 10 that runs like a dream on tick over. When try to drive her, she is perfect up through 1st to 3rd gear but when she is running along in 4th, she starts to react like she is running out of fuel.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to locate the fault. I have removed the carburettor and cleaned it through, checked all gaps on points and plugs etc.

Re: Running Fault 1934 Austin 10

Hi Paul,

Possibly pulling air in through a gasket weakening the mixture? Possibly fuel pump? You may be getting a weak spark? Check how well the charging circuit is charging the battery. Could the ignition coil, condenser, plugs, leads or points be breaking down?

Sorry if that isn't specific, but those are the areas I would look at first.

Good luck

Re: Running Fault 1934 Austin 10

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the advice.
I have now joined as a member and look forward to sharing my Austin 10 (Daisy) life.
Thanks again for your assistance. For your information, the problem was fuel starvation caused by a restriction in the fuel line if small rust flakes that were blown out with an air line.
Daisy is now running well.
