Half shaft broken
Hi there,
Into gear, prop shaft rotates but car remains stationary!
I assume one of the half shafts has sheared. Is there any info in the club of buying new half shaft and how to dismantle and fit a new one?
Thanks
Richard

Re: Half shaft broken
Second-hand spares may have one. I believe they are different lengths left and right.
ATDC magazine Technical Reprints Vol 1 has articles on rear axles - pages 45 to 48. But it is a job probably best left to a mechanic or someone familiar with Austin back axles.
If the half shaft breaks when out on the road do not allow the car to be towed as the wheel will com off.

Shame the reprints are out of stock. If they could be scanned in I could download them, and happy to still pay.
