This is a Navigation Scatter road run incorporating orienteering on foot at a range of destinations that may be visited. It is unique among Inter-Register Events as it takes place after dark.
Up to 9 locations out of a total of 12 may be visited to score points. Each of 6 marshalled halts has an orienteering task to be completed on foot in order to find the bird name. The harder they are the higher the score. At the 6 unstaffed halts the bird name may be found by accurate map reading and navigation.
No merit is attached to covering the lowest mileage or completing the driving event in the fastest time. But there is an overall time limit. Necessary so the marshalls can return and the scores be calculated.
