Austin 10/4 Electrical or Fuel issue?
Heelo. Well the old lady was 89 yesterday - first registered on 24th March 1934. To my shame last years total mileage was just 36. Won't go into why (a busy year elsewhere!) but planning to give her wheels more of a spin this year. We've had a few little runs out and she runs well. Starts well, stee...

Re: Steering issue
Thanks Peter - yes, tyre pressures okay so will look at other things in the steering system. It's been getting worse over the past couple of years so maybe time for some action! All good in the engine compartment after the work done last year and no leaks from the manifold which was an issue at the ...

Steering issue
Well it's got to that time of year when the car is blinking it's eyes in the sunlight after a good winter's rest. All looking pretty good and hoping for a few more outings this year! On a run down the lane this evening to check that everything still works (on the car, not me -I know I don't!) we wer...

10/4 Oil Pressure
Hello! I'm sure someone can tell me - what is the usual running oil pressure as displayed on the oil pressure gauge when driving along at a good steady 25 to 30mph in top gear? The oil pressure gauge on my 10/4 appears to be working normally but the pressure appears quite high. No engine problems an...

Good news with my 10/4
Having done a partial engine overhaul over the winter and having put everything back together there were a few teething problems getting the engine up and running again - including the leaking manifold stud from my last post. I'm happy to report that all is now well in the engine compartment and the...

Re: Leaking exhaust manifold stud - update
Just an update to say that PTFE tape and hylomar blue successfully stopped the leak from the manifold stud on my 10/4. All back together, no leaks and started up this evening which opened up a number of other issues. The old girl is certainly not firing on all cylinders but I think that might be plu...

Re: Leaking exhaust manifold stud
Many thanks both for your helpful replies. Good to hear the comment on PTFE as this was one of my lines of thinking, along with the hylomar products. With an abundance of time on my hands at the moment, and as both of these are in the garage I'll give it a go this afternoon and see how things work o...

Leaking exhaust manifold stud
I've recently replaced the exhaust manifold gasket on my 10/4 Saloon. The manifold took some removing and on replacing the studs one of the old studs snapped and had to be drilled out and re-tapped before putting in a new one. All is now back in one piece but on filling the radiator there is a water...
