Re: Austin 12/4 my chassis number v DVLA info
Phil H34257 is a legitimate chassis No. for an Austin Light 12/4 11.9hp dating from 1936 - probably June or July. If it is a saloon it will be an Ascot with a Car No (Body No) prefix HBX and 5 numbers, though the plate may be missing. That may be the 8 character No. that DVLA is expecting. Your engi...

Re: Hood, windscreen &c. for Ten Sports
If it is OY 9235 it is NOT a sports model but a Two-Seat & Dickey Tourer (a nicer car than the Ripley Sports model in many ways). A very good one of these sold at auction at Beulieu International Autojumble for less than the price asked for OY 9235. See also comments on Facebook. Worth haggling! A m...

Re: Grille badge

Austin script badges for the flat-rad 10 are available from ATDC Spares so no need to seek one from Seven Workshop. Past posts on this thread r...

Re: Water
Austin Cambridge has the drain tap on the bottom tank of the radiator and NOT on the bottom water branch (BWB) like the earlier cars. But is often difficult to open. On mine I have had to drain system by removing the BWB and bottom hose, but this does not drain the last drop out of the radiator bott...

And cut off the Seven of courseIvor Hawkins wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 12:41 pmUnless I had a totally original and unrestored car, I’d be tempted to buy an Austin Seven one, they are smaller and only about ten quid cheaper though!

Re: austin 10 bottom hose alluminium housing
The bottom water branch lasts about 25 years in my experience. It was the first new parts project for the club back in the early 1970s when most 10s needed them and they were no longer obtainable.

Re: Roadside assistance

I was given an ETA of 90 minutes and within that time the Hinton truck had arrived and the car loaded. Also got a text & call from Hinton telling me they were on the way and a call from RH to check t...
