Hello all,
I'm pleased to say I have now changed the gearbox oil.
Once I had raised the car up on axle stands I managed to located an overflow hole which was on the right side of the gearbox. It would appear that my handbook may not be for my specific model so a lesson learned there, plus get the vehicle in a position where I can clearly examine the area.
However many thanks to everyone for all the helpful advice, it was much appreciated.

Thanks for letting us know of your success and confirming that there is an overflow plug on the RHS.
