Austin 10 Cabriolet a new owner seeks advice

Post by nihay » Sat Jul 22, 2023 4:23 pm

Hello, I am a very new member having purchased a 1933 Austin 10:4 cabriolet from Robin Lawton last week. A long term Riley (Kestrel 9, 1934 from 1996 to 2023) and MGB GT (2015 to date) this is a new adventure for me. I don’t like working on my cars but do like to drive them, particularly on the Continent. I am hoping to enter my Austin into next year’s Rallye Intetnationale de Pays de Fougeres. To do this I need to:
1. Get the car checked over by an A10 specialist, preferably within reasonable distance of my home in Oxfordshire, who could then look after the car for me on a regular basis,
2. Obtain an MoT certificate from a testing station that @understands older cars,to ensue I comply with French regulations, which require a Controle Technique (roadworthiness certificate) or equivalent certification.
3. Apply for a F.I.V.A passport for the “cab” as this will help ensure acceptance for the Fougeres event.
So can any member advise me on:
Recommended marque garages: experts?
Sympa MoT testers near me?
How I can arrange for an ATDC nominated expert to inspect the car to certify its originality?
Thank you for any help you can provide. Nigel Hay

Hi
Try Austins of Old Arley who are near Coventry.
Theo is very good at giving information and help for Austins
