Club History
A brainchild of the 1960s the Austin Ten Drivers Club was conceived in a layby in 1964 by two Austin 10 drivers on the road to an Austin 7 rally at Beaulieu, where they met a third. Within nine months sufficient members had been gathered to form a club for the Austin Ten and meet at a London pub. The Austin 7 had numerous clubs and older Austins had the Vintage Austin register but at that time no club existed for the Austin 10. The first ATDC rally took place on 18th July 1965 consisting of 8 members and 3 guests on a follow-my-leader tour from Epsom to Newlands Corner for judging by Mr William (Bill) Boddy - Editor of Motor Sport and author of The History of Brooklands Motor Course - who had a soft spot for Austin 10s despite them being neither Vintage nor sports cars. The first national rally was held at Beulieu in 1966.
10-28hp 1931-1939
In 1969 ATDC grew to include the Austins of larger than 10hp Austin cars of the 1930s which also had no club, VAR only catering for the Vintage designs at that time.
